the green boy.
his eyes were like
the setting sun— browned
in fire and the clouds that bled
across purple skies.
her heart ached from salty
wounds of lovers past
but he was a boy of the sea —
with arms — nimble and
familiar around her frame — that reminded
her of wings
that faced cold winds across the waters.
and each time his kiss
brushed delicious bruises on
her mouth —
she could taste the ocean
on his lips.
